I know I'm behind. Actually I think I already read this one but I just read it again to try to figure out where I am in the story. I hate that there is so long between each volume. I can't remember stuff that long.
Anyway, I was struck this time by the sense of guilt over the killing. I'm primarily thinking of Roy, Riza, Armstrong, etc. Would they feel as bad if they were only killing soldiers shooting at them or is it the act of killing in general that weighs them down? It's quite a contrast between them and Kimbley. I think I wanted to say more but need time to think about it.

For those of you who brave the asmb on a regular basis, what is up with the [as] schedule? I'm sure you have the most up-to-date information.
Brian and I got home from traveling to family and were excited to watch the latest Code Geass on the video and then a new ep that night...and we saw that new eps don't start until next month. Instead, from what I can tell, we're rewatching the end of the first season? Why?
At least Moribito is finally catching up to where it was when they started the repeats. Unless I'm missing something on this, we'll continue this time instead of repeating again. Right?
I am amazed that [as] has any sort of following when the schedule can't remain consistent for a solid month.

My Anime Collection
I liked Silent's post on listing the collection in the order it was purchased. It really does show how we evolve in our outlook and tastes. Of course, that means I have to do some serious thinking about mine. In some cases I'm not 100% sure which one came first but here's my best guess.
- InuYasha -- I think I just have the first season. It was a box set and goes through the episode where they meet Miroku.
- Cowboy Bebop -- I didn't know a lot about what I was doing and I ordered this online. I felt bad when I got it and soon realized that it was not a legal copy. Eventually I bought the series from a reputable source.
- Fullmetal Alchemist -- This was the first one where I collected the entire series. I still love this show but I haven't actually seen all of my dvds.
- Hellsing -- This one I saw mentioned many times on the boards and when I saw it on sale I got it.
- Samurai Champloo -- When I started collecting this one I knew that I was seriously hooked.
- Samurai Seven -- This was the first time I got into something that wasn't actually showing on [as] and I still really like this one.
- Gankutsuo -- I think this one was next but am not certain. I think I started collecting it when I got into Samurai Seven. I haven't seen all of this one because I couldn't quite get into it but Soda really liked it so I ended up with the whole series.

- Princess Mononoke -- I'm not exactly sure when I got these three
- Fruits Basket -- I don't know why my memory gets worse as we go along but I think this is next.

Fullmetal Alchemist 2 - Trailer
Well...barely.
It really doesn't show much. What is shown is a shot of Ed, of Al (in armor), and of Mustang, and a final shot of Ed and Al. The character designs are a bit different from the previous series.

Y'know, while thinking about this, I realized that my memory of some things FMA related has gotten rusty. Like, I had to actually sit and remember for a moment what the name was for what the alchemists did (transmuting, transmutation, etc).
edit: Oh, also, more info should come around the 11th or 12th.

collections
The previous post got me thinking about my evolving collection of anime. I really like to own my favorites, but I also like to purchase series that I feel reflect what anime is about or that demonstrate excellence in a particular genre.
From browsing various discussions on message boards in the past (including the asmb), I noticed that some people collect an insane amount of anime. I wonder when they have time to watch any of it, or if they collect anime just to collect it. Admittedly, I do tend to leave a series here and there in shrinkwrap until I get around to watching it, but that's usually because I buy it at a great sale and I know I'll get around to watching it some day.
So, what's your collection of anime like? I'm going to assume that most, if not all of us here, have at least one or two series in our collection. I'll throw this out for manga, too. I'd like to read even more manga than I do because I find the repeat value higher in books.

What got you started?
Morning y'all (or evening, whenever you read this). Up and writing as I've been up with some bad ear pain. Hard to sleep.
While sitting here in the dark, got to thinking, what got y'all started on anime? Was it something on Adult Swim? Or maybe something earlier, Pokemon, Speed Racer, Voltron...
Or maybe it was a manga? Let us know.
Me, I mentioned it before, but Robotech was the first anime for me, but I don't really count it as my first known anime. I mean, I loved it, but I had no clue what anime was at the time. It was just a cartoon that I loved.
The first anime that I actually knew was anime was...probably Pokemon, of all things. I was in middle school and began to look into it. Now, I rather dislike the Pokemon cartoon as it is now, but I will stand by my opinion that the early season or two (up to the Pokemon League and Indigo Plateau) were pretty good. Americanization and 4Kids edits aside, it was somewhat interesting and at least a little varied. Now, it seems that most episodes, at least from what I've seen, tend to follow a formula pretty much (that's not to say that the same didn't happen at the start, just not as much).
And, kinda silly, I liked the dub music. As cheesy and stupid as it all was, I liked it (and the flute song from the second movie, that's good too). Anyway, Pokemon is one of the "gateway" anime, I think (along with Dragonball Z and a few others). Was it for you too? Or something else?
